Watershed management
The passage of the Clean Water Act of 1972 and subsequent amendments had a significant impact on the quality of our water resources by reducing the amount of point sources of pollution that enter our waterways. However, Non-Point Sources (NPS) of pollution, those whose sources cannot be identified, are now our greatest threat to the water we drink, recreate in, and eat from. A comprehensive Watershed Management Plan (WMP) will help to identify these NPS of pollution so that we know where to focus efforts to reduce contamination. To develop an effective and comprehensive WMP that the community will approve and implement several steps must be taken:
- Engage decision makers, local leaders, landowners, and the public throughout the entire planning process
- Conduct an extensive land use survey
- Conduct water quality sampling and analysis
- Determine necessary pollutant load reductions
- Prioritize critical areas for implementation
- Create an attainable action register which includes implementation costs and partners to assist with implementation
Quandt Consulting Services has nearly 2 decades of experience composing WMPs that cross political boundaries and meet the requirements of state environmental agencies and the US EPA which will allow for acquisition of funding to implement the plans . Environmental Education and Outreach
Quandt Consulting Services has over 15 years of environmental education and outreach experience. We understand the importance of educating the public on existing environmental conditions as well as the human impact on our natural world. We also believe in the power of informing the public regarding various practices that are being implemented in our cities and rural communities to lessen our impact on water and air quality.
